LIGHTING DESIGN FOR SMALL AND LARGE SPACES
Our portfolio boasts projects of every scope and scale, from boutique chic to classic opulence - each requiring a unique design approach. We work in close collaboration with the client and design team to create custom designs that balance aesthetics, function, maintenance and cost.
Our projects are staged which allows us to integrate easily with the RIBA architectural stages and also gives the opportunity to review the project with the client and design team at each stage to ensure the best outcome for the client.

HOW WE WORK
Initial consultation
The first consultation is free of charge and enables us to understand and identify the client's requirements, the scope of the project and the extent of the services required.

If, after this consultation, the client wishes to proceed we move on to the project stages as outlined below.

Stage 5
Concept Design
1.1 Attend site and concept meetings with the client to discuss the design brief, concepts and design intent for the project.
1.2 Carry out conceptual lighting design proposals for all areas.
1.3 Generate lighting concepts in the form of mood boards and concept sketches. Present these to the client as appropriate.
1.4. Submittals for this phase -
Preliminary concept visuals.
Schematic Design
2.1 Attend one progress meeting with the client to discuss the schematic design for the project.
2.2 Preliminary lighting layouts will be drawn and submitted.
2.3 Preliminary luminaire and controls specifications for all approved fittings will be submitted.
2.4 Review and ensure all other lighting details are coordinated with the lighting scheme.
2.5 Any special lighting details required will be coordinated with other disciplines such as carpentry and joinery and submitted as appropriate and necessary.
2.6. Submittals for this phase -
Preliminary Interior reflected ceiling plans in PDF
Preliminary Interior floor & wall plans/elevations in PDF if appropriate
Preliminary Luminaire & Loading schedules in PDF
Detail Design & Construction Documentation
3.1 Attend one coordination meeting with the client to discuss schematic design.
3.2 Any comments and revisions at this stage will be incorporated into the lighting design. Final lighting layouts, specifications, lighting details and loading schedule will be produced and submitted.
3.3 Review and comment on any alternative luminaires put forward by the client.
3.4 Comment/assist with final coordinated construction drawings (provided by others) and issue comments.
3.5 Confirm likely supply lead times for all specified luminaires.
3.6 Submittals for this phase -
Final Interior reflected ceiling plans in PDF
Final Interior floor & wall plans/elevations in PDF if appropriate
Final Detail Design drawings in PDF
Final Luminaire & Loading schedules in PDF
Submittal review reports
Construction
4.1 Attend site meetings (as and when required) to review the implementation of the lighting design.
4.2 Any design details will be revised if required according to site conditions.
4.3 Comment/assist with any alternative luminaire specifications proposed.
4.4 Answer requests for information.
4.5 Assist with management of procurement of the luminaires.
4.6 Liaise with control manufacturer to ensure full design compatibility and installation.
4.7 Revise the lighting design package to incorporate any variations on site and revisions to the luminaire specifications.
Completion
5.1 Visit site to assist in the focusing of any adjustable light fittings.
5.2 Assistance in scene setting and commissioning of control system.
5.3 A written comments list will be composed, comprising all lighting-related comments and ‘snags’ where the lighting design has not been fully realised.
